A Smart Card more commonly known as “SIM” or "Chip" carries an identification number unique to the owner (individual unit). It stores personal data like text messages and contacts. If removed from the phone the unit becomes incapable of connecting to the network.
Cannot Access SIM card
You may not be able to access your sim for many reasons:
- Your phone may be network locked. If your phone was purchased from another network provider, you may need to check with that provider to get it unlocked.
- If your sim is blocked, use the PIN or PUK as needed to unblock. The PIN and PUK is found on the back of your sim card holder.
- Sim may be inserted incorrectly. You can refer to the manufacturer manual for directions on inserting your sim in your device.
SIM Card Security
Our SIM cards are issued with two strengths of security to help prevent unauthorized access to your device and information stored on your sim card itself.
All SIM cards are protected with a PIN number. The PIN (Personal Identification Number) is provided upon purchase of the SIM. Standard PIN codes are 4 digits in length. If you forget your PIN, or enter the pin incorrectly 3 times, then the second security measure known as the PUK code is enabled. The PIN and PUK codes can be found on the SIM card packet that is provided to you when the sim was purchased. There is a PUK 1 and PUK 2 code to help with securing your SIM pin. You can use it to unlock a blocked SIM pin.
SIM Dimensions
Phones vary in size and shape and therefore house different SIM card sizes.
